FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything museums usually ask us. If your question is not here, email support@real-view.tv.

What does MuseumVR do?

We create guided virtual-reality tours that take visitors back in time to the place your museum is about, and we run them on site. We build the tour, supply the VR headsets and provide trained staff to look after visitors, so the museum does not need to buy equipment or train its own team.

How much does it cost?

There is nothing to pay up front. We build a tour for your museum at no cost and run a free one-week trial on site. After the trial we agree terms with you based on footfall: the number of visitors who take the tour. If the trial does not work for you, you owe nothing.

What happens during the free trial?

For one week we bring the headsets and our own staff to your museum and run the tour for your visitors. You see how visitors respond, how many take part and how it fits your space. At the end we share the numbers with you and discuss whether, and how, to continue.

What equipment do you use?

We use standalone Meta Quest 3 headsets, so there are no cables, computers or tracking sensors to install. A typical set-up is 10 to 20 headsets, a charging station and a small seating or standing area. We bring and maintain all of it.

How much space do we need?

Very little. Visitors stay in one place, seated or standing, while the tour moves them through the scene, so a quiet corner or a small room for a group is enough. We will look at your space with you before the trial.

Do visitors need to use controllers or buttons?

No. Our tours are worked by gaze alone. A small dot sits in the middle of the view: looking at the Begin or Language button for a moment presses it. Once it starts, the tour is fully guided, so visitors simply look around and listen.

Which languages are available?

The Aquae Sulis tour is narrated in seven languages: English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese, with matching captions. Visitors choose their language in the headset, and it returns to English for the next visitor.

How long is a tour?

The Aquae Sulis tour lasts about 15 minutes, depending on the language. Tours for other sites can be shorter or longer to suit how your visitors move through the museum.

Is it historically accurate?

Every tour is built from published archaeology, inscriptions and expert reconstruction. Where the evidence runs out, we choose the most likely answer and the narration says so. We are happy to work with your curators so the tour matches your collection and your interpretation.

Who can use the headsets?

The headset maker, Meta, recommends its headsets for ages 10 and up. Our staff give every visitor a short introduction, adjust the headset and stay close by during the tour. Visitors can take the headset off at any time.

How do you keep the headsets clean?

Our staff clean the headsets and their wipeable face covers between visitors, and we keep spare covers and lens wipes on site.

Can you make a tour about our own site or collection?

Yes. That is what we do: we build a tour around your site, your period and your objects. Our first tour recreates Aquae Sulis, Roman Bath, around AD 205, to show what is possible.

Does the tour collect any personal data?

No. The tour does not ask for names, take photos or record visitors, and no visitor account is needed. See our privacy policy for details.

How do we get started?

Email us at support@real-view.tv with your museum's name and a little about your site. We will arrange a call, then a visit, and start building your tour.
